how as a black man how can you event type those words, as a black man thats the last thing you should be uttering on the net, just showing everyone on here how ignorant you truely are. You are suppose to be a college educated man, but you utter words of a pure ignorance. You are truely one of the reasons why black men in america are sometimes veiw in a very poor light due to comments like that. Saying to grow up would be to easy for me to say to you "brother" quote on quote. Before you talk about apo, ay-phi-que or anything in this great fraternity look in yourself and let go of the hate you have inside. Read the founders purpose and look in yourself for those qualities and let them show cause from you comments from the last couple of days i dont think you hold the torch of alpha phi omega anymore.
I may not like some people in the frat but they are my brothers and i will NEVER disrespect my brothers the way you have, brother find jesus cause it seems like you need him in your life.

One quick question however...
Some of the women did bring up a good point...
If the picnic was designed for all male members of Alpha Phi Omega, like I thought when I crossed, to have something of their own...
then why are females invited by Vikings?
Reason being, I have met several (authentic) Vikings*who have invited me or asked if I were attending the Picnic. After I said no, some would ask why and it was then I had to explain why it would be best if I chose to abstain.
*please don't pm me with what do I mean by that because I don't mean any disrespect, what I mean are brothers who did not pledge at a co-ed school and whose chapter has remained all male.
Could someone with some authority please answer this for me?
News @ 9
Stay tuned for updates!!!

well there are no "real" or "authentic" vikings, to be a viking is something in the way you represent the fraterntiy and what you believe, now as far as brothers inviting female apo's, against popular belief, Vike dont really care about the frat being co-ed, all we doing is keepin the tradition alive thats it, nothing more, now there are hundreds of bros at the picnic and you will never know them casue they dont come on the messages board. the bros who are on here dont represent every male chapter or every male who calls themself a viking. there are co-ed chapters who the males call themselves vikings and get the same love at the picnic as brother from all male chapters. so im not surprised that you were invited. its a common thing, dont let a few brother who are on here make you believe that is the veiw of all the black males who are vikings. casue its not, keepin the male tradition of the fraternity alive doesnt mean being againt females. we are pro male not anti female. just like being pro black doesnt mean anti white. i hate to see people misunderstand what it is to be a viking. This is a all male event an all anyone asks is to show respect and we will show respect to you.

We Shall Overcome
Hello all members of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, Inc. I am here to let all of you know that I will continue to pray the "Prayer of Protection" for our fraternity. There are not enough hours in a day to sort through the problem that is at hand. I know personally, because I come from that Mighty Zeta Phi Chapter. We have toiled endlessly to battle the situation; however, I found that once you speak to people individually with respect they begin to understand. I have counseled several female members within my chapter and, as long as, I was tactful about it, I did not receive any grief.
I'm just letting you know that we all need to pray about this situation...........

Thank you for your opinion...like I said, no disrespect intended by the "vike" comment, only reason I even said it, and that was the best word I could use to describe it, is because it is somewhat different when you pledge a co-ed chapter and become a viking versus pledging an all male chapter...co-ed means you deal(t) with girls, so one may or may not be more sympathetic to female frat and lb's than someone who pledged all-male, and vice versa. Honestly speaking, some of the nicest and most "attractive" vikes I have ever met were from all-male chapters (great fellowshiping indeed ) So that is why I asked!
Important note!
As everyone cool down and make their way down to ATL, personally, I will be going to GREEKNIC, YIPPEE!!!, just remember, a person's opinion is just that, theirs! Every Viking is not going to snatch a female's letters, every female frat is not going to wreck shop and cause havoc and all Gamma Sigs, Jewels and Phyettes are not going to look at Females with a screw face. Now it is not to say that it can't happen, but don't expect it to happen either! Remember, it is a fellowship and everyone there is going for just that. If everyone knows there role, then I think it should be a peaceful event! Have fun, but if you have to get out of pocket, drink or do what ever, please take off your letters!!!
Then like Eightball said, Bust a ______ Head!
Respectfully,

P.S. Can this issue end at the end of the cookout!

I am over here like oh my....
Let me say this can we use the word discretion.
I can understand both sides of the spectrum.
The Bruhs want to perserve their heritage
the female APO's want respect.
First we need to remember we are grown women and men, and all the name calling reminded me of something out of jr high.
Bruhs, this is not my place but it needs to be said. I understand you are trying to perserve your legacy. However, women are here to stay in your org. You don't have to like it but you have to deal.
Ladies, you have to understand the history behind this event and aye-phi-que. This is not a national event, to be honest they can invite and decline whoever they want. However, I can say I have seen disrespect of the bruhs by female APO's at a cookout before.
Me, personally... I would not attend an event where it could possibly cause drama.
On behalf of the Sorors, umm we are not looking for drama and have nothing personal against you. YOU DO WHAT YOU DO, as long as their is no disrespect.
On behalf, of the National Board of Directors for Gamma Sig.
If it is the intentions of someone "to show out", I am pretty sure you will be asked to leave.
If you are planning to attend do not come with the intent to cause drama. Stay at home.
For everyone else, be careful what you say, you never know who is reading...

That's really sad that this conversation is clouding your judgement of Alpha Phi Omega. Every Fraternity/Sorority has its problems, some are just aired out and some aren't. I bet even Sigma Sigma Sigma has some problems that you may or may not know about. This event doesn't represent APO on a whole. Evidently you hadn't really thought about pleding long. Just my opinion.
