NPC Recruitment can be stressful and there are plenty of detractors who believe it could be greatly improved. Some of those are NPC members. The aim, however, is for all the NPC groups to work together, to ensure that one group does not get a "leg up" on the others because they spend more money or do something that the others don't do to entice PNM's. In addition, the present system forces all PNM's to at least give every sorority a look, which wouldn't happen if they had the option of attending parties or not. As we all know, women do change their minds about where they want to join even after recruitment starts. That is why the stringent rules are in place. The members of NPC have agreed to recruit together and abide by the policies.
Could the system be improved? Sure it could. Would something like you have described (and as PM Mama pointed out) work on a small campus even if it couldn't work where there is large NPC presence? Most definitely. You make some very good points. However, most NPC members are happy (mostly) with the process just as I am sure you are happy with your intake process.
