I grew mine out years ago (that hair is not touching my shoulder.
I like them, but I kept burning my forehead with the curling iron (OUCH!) whenever I tried to curl them.
I can still wear the "swipe across teh forehead like bangs" look, I just have to pin/clip the hair behind my era (and let the rest of my hair hang loose over it).
I've read that bangs accentuate the eyes though.
