So how many people think Yung Wun's "Tear It Up" is gonna be a big hit with marching bands this year? First thing I thought about when I heard this song was Drumline.

To note, things that deter youth from going to college...

Seeing the neighborhood men/women do their hustle and sporting themselves around with nice rims, cars and bling...

Not getting the influence or supported needed, whether it be from family or school staff.

MONEY, MONEY, MONNEEY! We can talk about taking out all kinds of loans, fin aid and looking for scholarships all we want, but some people just can't afford it no matter what.

In all honestly I use to think college was for everyone but sometimes its not. I don't see Kanye's (and I loved the CD the first time I played it. It was one of those that I just let play and didnt skip through) lyrics as positive or negative, just realistic. Like someone said who are we say whether he did or didn't have a good experience. I guess it's because I grew up seeing a lot of things his lyrics are about. (All Falls Down and We Don't Dare are my faves. I'm not really really The New Work-Out)

We put stuff on layaway, then come back. We claim other people's kids on our income tax
IMO Kanye, Bill Gates and people like them are the last things we should be blaming for our youth not going to school. Starts at home and the community.

Stack you're money til it gets sky high....
We weren't suppose to make it pass 25,
Jokes on you we still alive...
Throw your hands up in the sky, and say
We don't care what people say
So Real, so True for lots...

No I am not kidding.

I believe I mentioned a few months ago during Black History month I met someone that thought Shaka Zulu and Chaka Khan were related, and another thinking Huey Newton was a leader of a band called "The News" in the 80's, and nothing to do with the Black Panters.

There are some really ignorant people in the world.

And Eldridge Cleaver is Beaver's dad, right?

Huey Newton and the News is going to be cracking me up all day.

Hey - hopefully I won't get shot for asking these questions, but what are yard shows and HBCU? I just haven't heard these terms and thought I'd ask!

HBCU: Historically Black Colleges/Universities

I'm not down with the concept of a yard show, but I know it has something to do with stepping

ETA: They broke up the NPHC and placed them amongst the different groups for Greek Week instead of competeing as one council...We're paired up with Theta, Sig Chi, and THE QUES!!!!

HBCU: Historically black college, such as Howard University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, Spelman College.

Yard shows: I think if you search, you can find an answer, but generally these are put on by NPHC organization members at their campi.

For Steeltrap:

When did Omega come back to campus at State? I was there about two weeks ago, and saw only one Omega.
Yes, Mu Iota, the undergrad chapter that we supervised, had a coming-out.

Yeah....that was him Their members from other chapters I'd assume are helping him out. They at least came down for a step show last fall (where they got into it with the Sigmas, nothing big though)

I hope they cross some deserving guys who've sought Omega. To get the cultural greeks' support during the year helped out the smaller IFC houses like mine , and I sometimes feel like I can relate to them better than to the "traditional" greeks.
