To answer the question from my perspective only, I don't know whether "sacred" is the right word. I think what is missing is committment. We are committed to our marriage and it has lasted almost 34 years.

Seems to me that if the committment is there, marriage will survive no matter if it's same sex, opposite sex, inter-racial, etc.

I don't understand how marrying for money or convenience or whatever has much of a chance.
It was an honest question...no attack. I like knowing what people write their admissions essays on. I mean she did apply and she did get in so where's the attack?
