Spankings didn't work for me. I don't know if it was because I was a super strong-willed child, had a high pain tolerance, or I didn't get spanked hard enough (despite that I was sometimes spanked by thick belts, combs, house shoes, and boto bats ). It seemed that whatever I did to get me into trouble was worth the spankings. What worked with me was punishment by humiliation and having my favorite things taken away.
