Girl, it's expensive. I just checked mediaplay.com and it was $59.99 for the set. I guess I'll be looking to buy it off of eBay.

Yeah, that is rather high. I think I pay that much for The Simpsons box sets evey year. I think amazon.com has it for like $45.99 and you do get that super saver discount, I think. But I'm buying it anyway and if I can't scrounge up the $$, then I'll have Hubby and Son buy it for me for Mother's Day.

I've been singing every Jem song that I could think of all day.

Saturday morning cartoon related: Does anyone remember.....

....In The News?

In The News aired on CBS in the 70s and early 80s as a five-minute bumper in between Saturday morning cartoons giving the young viewers an informative, yet brief and understanding news article on such items as "The Greenhouse Effect" and "The Cuban Missile Crisis, 20 Years Later". It served as an intelligent alternative to ABC's "Schoolhouse Rock".

The announcer, Christopher Glenn, gave a smooth, soothing voiceover to the news events, always ending the clip with "I'm Christopher Glenn, with [insert topic here], In The News".

The opening was REALLY cool, the animated globe, with the ITN logo circling it several times before we zoomed in to the logo, revealing the news footage at hand. And the SFX? COOL! Who could forget the blippity-blippity-blippity doo DOO doo doo dooooooo!

Who remembers this with me? I saw reruns of this on TVLand back in '95 in the early mornings before I went to class and I thought I was 8 years old again. Flashbacks like a mammajamma.

And what was wrong with Schoolhouse Rock? (rhetorical question; don't need the answer). I had the proper use of conjunctions and how bills become laws on lock because of SchoolHouse Rock.

and as far as beats, I'm surprised Puffy hasn't yet sampled.... "conjunction, junction, what's your function"

*I'm just a bill, yes, I'm only a bill, but I made it far as Capitol Hill..."*

let me throw these Saturday morning cartoon giants into the mix...

HR Puff-N-Stuff
Hong Kong Phooey
Hanna Barbara and the Hair Bear Bunch
Josie and the Pussycats
Mighty Mouse
Ultra-Man
Batti Hatti from Cincinnati (although this was local)

I remember Lark, that's about it

I hated Ducktales, but I loved the theme song

Also, who is sleeping on Schoolhouse Rock!! That was the bomb!
I sure did show my 8th graders America Rock. It was the perfect little review for some of the things I taught them. They thought it was mad corny, but they were goig around singing, "No more Kings!!"

Rocking and a-rolling
Splishing and a-splashing
Over the horizon, what could it be?

LOL!

Looks like it's going to be. . . a free countrieeeeeeeeee. . .

Sorry, got caught up in the moment. Actually, Soror, I have the CD at home, and no, my husband didn't get it for our daughter! We HAD to play "conjunction, junction" and "I put my thang in action, yeah! VERB!!" first thing when we got it.

VERBS!!!!!! That's what's happenin'

I loved that one!

I know. One of my students told hier mom I played SchoolHouse Rock and she wanted to know if she could borrow it. I lent it to her and she brought it back the next day. She said that she, her mom, and her little brothers sat in the bed and watched it. That was so cute!
