Joe Corbis pizzas work well for us, we set a limit everyone has to sell or else pay what the profit would have been.
For Panhel, I coordinated a Mr. CU pageant (Clarion University). Orgs could sponsor a guy to compete for the title of Mr. CU and a cash prize, as well as donated prizes. We made $270, not bad for charging $2 and shelling out $50. I'm hoping next year will be better.
If you need anymore help, let me know!

Our chapter actually fundraised a lot from our own members. I wouldn't suggest that being your only option, but we ended up with enough money to buy a pool table. What we did was have a raffle every week at chapter. I think tickets were like $1 a piece, and if you got an A on something the tickets were only $0.50 and a B was $0.75. And I don't excatly remember, but there was something for if you went to all of your classes that week. This next part could be good and bad: even if you didn't have any money, you could still enter the raffle. The fundraising chair kept tabs on who owed what, and then when they owed more than $5, she hounded them until they paid (as in even threatening J-Board if it got bad). Prizes for the raffle were cute little things like stationary or candles. Everyone that bought tickets all semster, their names stayed in the jar until the end, when there was the drawing for the grand prize, which was something like free tickets to formal. You could change it around to fit your own chapter, but it worked pretty well.

I know a lot of people have never heard of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (man, I feel bad for you...) but for those of you who live by one, they have a fundraiser that is pretty profitable. The only "bad" thing is that you have to front some money. But honestly its a good fundraiser...
The whole idea:
You get 50% of the profit. And all you have to do is sell Krispy Kreme Discount Cards. They cost $10 each (which seems like a lot... but not really) but they only cost you $5... So you're making a $5 profit off of each card. And you can sell at least a hundred cards, no problem!
The card:
So once the customer buys the card for $10, they can go to Krispy Kreme and buy up to like 10 dozen doughnuts for 1/2 off... And once the card is full, they get a dozen doughnuts for free!
So basically it's a win-win situation!!!

It depends where you live but...
Last summer my chapter ran a Fireworks booth for 4th of July. It was a lot of fun and hard work. (we had to rent a trailer to transport the fireworks, schedule shifts, and sell, sell, sell) All week our chapter sat out in a Tacobell parking lot in the hot sun. (I know most chapters won't be able to do something like this, because you can't sell fireworks in most places. but almost every greek org. on my campus does a booth). We actually ending up buying11 badges with the money. (Long story, bascially UPS lost them but we couldn't track it, but good news is it was my initiation group--which is Fall 2000! so it was great to finally receive our badges this fall!!!-two years later) The rest of the money we donated to the Phi Sig foundation. (or going to, I think)
So, if you can do it in your area, it does make a lot of money and I say go for it.
oh yea cookie dough is always a good one too. people love that stuff.

dash for cash
hey! our chapter is planning a dash for cash..its worked well for other chapters in our area so we're hoping it will go over good for us as well. Here's how it works..you sell tix at a game..like volleyball or basketball...during half time you draw 5 tix. You spread half the money from tix sales on the floor and the 5 ppl get 10 seconds to grab as much cash as possible, you keep the other half, and any cash that is left. It works b/c the only start up cost is the price of the tix and if your're really strapped for cash you can always print tix off the pc.

I'm fundraising in my chapter too...Garage sales work great and so do carwashes, but they are so out played...
I heard from a sister that another Phi Sig chapter (I think it was the chapter from FIU) did something called "Princess for a Day"...I would love to try it out for my chapter but I'm afraid because we don't have a house and we're only 15 sisters...but basically you make flyers and pass them around town or in preschool and/or elementary schools. The girls say from age 4-7 will get a make-over (makeup, hair, and nails) the parents can bring a cute outfit for their child to wear. At the end of the day, the children put on a fashion show to show their cute look off...Each child can cost $15 or $20 to get the makeover and participate in a show. Have someone take pictures of each child as they are on stage and you can get or make cute little picture frames and send the picture with a note saying "Thank you for allowing your daughter to take part in our fundraiser". Blah Blah Blah lol...I think it's adorable. :-P If you try this out let me know!

At our school, we're not allowed to do 50/50 raffles (largely because the athletics department does it at most of the events). Something we did instead was a "ribbon drive". We chose a campus org. that needed money (which was the library, whose funding was severely cut this year), then made awareness ribbons to support the library, sold them for $1 each, and split the profits with the library. It was easy, cheap, and something everyone on campus wanted to support.
