Fundraising/Philanthropy Ideas

I just got appointed as the new fundraising chair and I need some help coming up with some ideas. My chapter only has 10 members so we find it quite hard to do big fundraisers. Plus most of the sisters have classes all day so it is difficult to do tables and things like that during the day. We are planning to do a Rock a Thon and a Jail or Bail but we still need some more ideas. If anyone can think of anything that we can do in the next 2 months before school ends I would really appreciate it. I could also use any philanthropy ideas you have.

Hi Killer! I am fundraising chair also! Maybe you should try a raffle of some sort. A 50/50 will probably bring in the most money, and it's easy! Or you can try the infamous car wash idea!!!!!!! Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and feel free to email me if you need anymore ideas!

We do Kareoke Night and Breakfast in Bed. Kareoke Night we get prizes donated and then people give $ to enter. Breakfast in bed we get donatations and then deliver people breakfast.

Try getting in contact w/the athletic dept. @ your school and see if they'll let you sell 50/50 raffle tickets during mens basketball games. Tell them that you'll give them a cut of the money. (We usually give a 1/4). We've worked out a deal where we sell programs and concessions and 50/50 tickets @ mens and women's bball games and we made over $3,000 this year!!!

hope this helps!!

I just got elected fundraising chair of my chapter and I have tons of ideas. Jadey from Villa Julie had an awesome idea of a crab raffle...I guess that would just be an east coast thing! We are planning a car wash for this summer. We are also going to try and get a contract at the Ravens stadium to work the concession stand with possibly a frat on campus. You have to committ a certain number of people to each game and we don't have that large of a chapter. My mother sells home interiors and they do an awesome candle jar fundraiser, also our advisor is getting us involved in selling pampered chef cookbooks. At division conference, someone from another chapter mentioned washing an airplane. apperantly they pay like $600 or something. That would be awesome! I am trying to contact the airport about that. Kepp me updated with ideas and I will be sure to post some more when I get them!

phisigQT 03-15-2002 12:41 AM

we have...
sold candles, magazines, and the usual pizzas...however this spring we are having a car wash and we are planning a BINGO event for next fall. our advisor did it at her chapter and said that they made A TON of $$$...

yeah, our chapter does the usual too..selling chocolate, tea etc. this year we had a "kissing " booth for valentines (selling candygrams with hershey kisses) it was a good idea but poorly planned so it kinda flopped. we also help a pasta night..a lot of planning but we made some money (but we had earmarked it for philanthropic purposes). the other sorority also did a steak dinner which went really well for them (and the food was pretty good for $10). Just make sure you plan extensively!! so many of my chapter's fundraisers flop because they are poorly planned or are thrown together at the last minute. Also, incentives are really good.

Good Luck

Fundraising

I love the idea of a male beauty pageant. Most of the fraternity boys at our school would have fun with the idea so I will hopefully get one started soon. Thanks for the great idea!

I am doing a fundraising thing with a Hawiian theme. I found like 100 lays for only $5. Set up a table the week of rush (it'll also help get your name out.) Sell each Lay for $1.

Get laid by a Phi Sig...Where else can you get laid for only $1.

It's really cute, and even though it's sexual it doesn't hurt the Phi Sig name at all. It just helpd people remember you (especially girls getting ready to rush...hint. hint)

That is such a cute idea and I will tell our fundraising chair. It will go over well at my school.

We did a few fundraisers this year. We did a candle jar sale that we made some money off of. I can send you info if you are interested. We did a magazine sale through campusfundraisers.com and that didn't go over all that well. We also tried to do the concession stand thing at Ravens stadium...it was HELL!!! :o 10 hour day and in the end it averaged out to less than minimum wage per person. We made a lot of money off of our 50/50 raffle though. Each sister was required to turn in a minimum of 40 tickets. That way when you were selling them, you could say that there was a guaranteed prize of $650 or so. Most sisters sold more than 40 so we made quite a bit of money. Our highest seller got free formal tickets. This cost our chapter nothing. I printed up the tickets 10 to a sheet and one of our sisters works in an office and made free copies. We ran it for 3 weeks and everyone really got into it. It was easy and cheap! :D
Some of the philanthropy things we do are rock-a-thon. We did it in the fall and spring this year. We have smaller jars that sisters walk around with asking for donations. We raised over $1000 for the foundation with rock-a-thon this year. We do a build-a-bear philanthropy twice a year. If you have a Build-a-bear store around you, they really hook you up with discounts and free bears. We then schedule a trip to a local childrens ward at a hospital and spend the evening with the children and give them the bears.
Some great philanthropy ideas that boost your chapter image are to get in contact with your school's studen life offices. We have a cooridinator of student service and tag along on their projects. Throw on some letters and make connections with your school. Trust me, it does not go un-noticed.

Hey guys!

Bunner, I "borrowed" your idea to give to my boss! She's raising money to go to a marathon in Florida for the Diabetes Association, and she's going to do the "Get Laid" thing! Thanks!

Jess
