I will say that tattoos that are "cliche" i.e. the butterfly in the small of the back, etc aren't attractive. Anything on a breast, shoulder, neck, face to me read "trailer trash" (no offense to those that live in trailers, but y'all know what i mean).

Seriously, if a girls got a tattoo on her breast, i'm gonna expect her to be sporting a Fe-Mullet, be dating a guy driving an 85 Camero, and be a huge NASCAR/Harley Davidson fan.

Now, to me, tattoos that are discreet and have significant meaning to the girl are kind of sexy. If a girl has her symbol, initials of a friend who passed, something pertaining to family/school/glo in a "hidden" place to me that shows that she's got certain things she believes in passionately and isn't concerned with passing trends.

I have a tattoo. It's on my left ankle, and only visible if i'm wearing shorts and flip flops. It means a lot to me, it represents Sigma Nu, Texas, and Texas A&M. I'm extremely proud of making it through pledgeship and becoming a Sigma Nu, i'm extremely proud of graduating from a top school like Texas A&M, and i think we all know how proud i am about being from Texas. It's on my left ankle, so no matter where i go, Texas will be close to my heart(relatively speaking of course).

So, yes, trendy tattoos in extremely visible places = tacky. Tatts with significant meanings in discreet places = acceptable, sometimes sexy.
