Unfortunatly

The two party system in America is only a way to group people and serves nothing more than a statistical number. A politician uses this to figure out who his voting public is. If there were no true party systems I think that politicians would run more to get the general vote. Whatever you think of him when Bloomberg ran for mayor of the pyramids he reached out to a broad based community because in a largely democratic city he needed the votes of Blacks and moderate democrats. And he got enough of that to pull that off.
