Be careful on South Beach!!! I live in Miami, so I'm allowed to warn you about this
The place scares the hell out of me, to be honest. But anyway, one of my good friends visited me over the summer, and he and his friends stayed at a pretty nice hotel on South Beach... and they got robbed. As in, someone broke into their room and took a lot of money. So I'd recommend staying at a nice, reputable hotel on the beach, or staying at a place near it but not in the middle of it all. Oh, and if at all possible, rent a car, cause otherwise you're going to waste a lot of money on cabs
