P-n-C, I just bought a really great fountain pen for my uncle. Janoffs on Broadway and 110th (ha ha ha, I know it's far) actually has 40% off their Watermans. So, I got him a $100 pen for just about $60.

I don't think Diane Court gave Lloyd Dobler a Waterman fountain pen.

Come on Watermans are gross. You can do better.

Well, I just finished shopping for my boyfriend, and I know he won't like the stuff I got him. I try to be creative, hell, I am an artistically-inclined person so you'd think I'd be able to come up with something cool, but he is so picky that I just couldn't. I read some of your suggestions in this thread, but nothing really applied to him because he's either a) already got it, or b) wouldn't like it. I ended up just getting cologne that he likes, a J. Crew sweater, and some fleece pajama pants to wear around the house because his place is real cold! Geez. Christmas shopping should not be this hard.

Ok my shopping is finally done-
The sometimes bf is getting a men's "accessory chest" (aka JEWELRY BOX) that's engraved, I put a really nice Kenneth Cole bracelet in there, it looks like the Armani one most guys have but it's a little heavier....also a button down he wanted, these bookends that are bull/bear (he wants to be a financial analyst)...and the new Kenneth Cole Black.

**sigh** finally ok..........I'm not sure why I just told you all that, I think it was to make sure the gift was done!!

Hope he likes it

Oh yeah and he gets to see me- that's the best present of all

He liked the fountain pen. Thanks for the suggestion, Munchkin. I gave him other gifts, too. He gave me a diamond heart pendant necklace. He said that something else will arrive on Monday. In an hour we will leave for midnight mass.

The "not-BF" (that was for you, etahannah! ) jumped up and down when he opened his gift -- Jordan's Carolina Blue sweater pants outfit complete with the visor and shoes. I even threw in a burned CD to listen to while he's sleeping on the bus to the game.

"A perfect gameday outfit," he said. I'm glad he liked it, the reaction was priceless.

True that. He's had a fanbase of teenyboppers ever since he was a junior in HS. Girls flock to him after every game just to get his freaking autograph, it's quite entertaining actually.

Is it the Backstreet Boys or N'Sync with the highly suspicious 40 year old member?

I'm bumping this b/c I have a question about gifts for boyfriends. My friend is planning on giving her boyfriend a scrapbook of them together for their 1 year anniversary. She got mad at me when I told her that while the gift is very thoughtful , it's not the kind of thing men really want. I told her she'd be better off giving him something he can really use and appreciate like something for his guitar, or something that's surfing related since that's what he likes. I also told her that a scrapbook is a great gift for women but not really the ideal gift for men. She's now mad at me b/c she thinks I insulted her gift. In hindsight, I probably was a little tactless but was I right to tell her this or should I have kept my mouth shut? I don't know b/c I've always gotten my fiance gifts I know he would use & want like sports gifts, movies, & stuff like that.

Okay, I'm a woman and I'd be pissed if somebody gave me a scrapbook as a gift.

Well, "pissed" might be an exaggeration, but I think people either really like scrapbooks or they don't, and I'm having a hard time imagining a guy who would like one. It sounds more like a gift your friend is really making for herself, you know? She can still make the scrapbook, but I agree with you that it's a bad gift idea. Gifts are supposed to be about the recipient, not the giver.

I'd be cool with it, but only because I own more material items than I care for and I life gifts with thought behind them - not gifts I can buy on my lunchbreak.

I know of a few friends who've made scrapbooks for their boyfriends, I don't think I'd ever give one to my guy though. I'm really into scrapbooking and arts and crafts and all that stuff and I made a scrapbook for my best friend for her birthday. In between the book, the papers, the stickers, etc. it ended up being really expensive.
