Boyfriend Gifts
 

Christmas is around the corner and I'm stumped on what to get my boyfriend! Every holiday he's come up with some really great, creative gifts and I want to return the favors.

Guys, what were your favorite gifts from a girlfriend, girl friend, or whomever?

Girls, what presents did you give that went over very well, or what presents did you receive that might help boyfriends in their quest for a holiday present?

My boyfriend is a super-techie guy, and he's got *everything* so I'm going crazy trying to figure out what to get him.

Right now the best idea I have is a modchip and a Japanese import game for his PS2

Uh, super-techie huh? Most girls usually call me dork for having a PS2 and GC, but you know what I say...?

BTW I think I will refer to myself as a Super Techie now.

Also if you are gonna buy a Jap important game, I'd suggest you look on EBAY first....I buy all my games from there...saves alot of money.

Oh yeah, back to the original question, buy him an X-Box and the LotR special edition DVD with the statues and 30 minutes of extra footage. Also, go get him the special 3 pack DVD of GIRLS GONE WILD.

Gamer guys aren't dorky in my book, as long as its not all consuming. I've had friends fail out of college because of Everquest - that's dorky. I'd get myself a Cube (I'm dying to play Animal Crossing) if I actually had time for games

Haha that's so funny...I've been playing EQ since release and I've known people who have lost spouses because their partner left for someone they met in EQ.

Yeah, I know a girl who's sister met some guy in Alaska on EQ and moved to be with him. Then, this girl broke up with her RL boyfriend, for a guy in Canada she met on EQ. She and the RL boy played together though. After the breakup, but before moving, she managed to hook up with her ex's best friend...and now she's almost back with the original guy because the guy in Canada wasn't what she thought he was... :rolleyes:

Back to the original subject... Pretty much anything that is functional. We don't like gifts (at least most of us) that we can't use. Sentimental stuff is not nearly as nice as things that we can use and enjoy.

Go to the mall and check out Brookstone and The Sharper Image. Stay away from the store-brand stuff but most of that stuff makes a great gift (I used to work at The Sharper Image, they are essentially a gift shop).

Get him a DVD. And not of that girly one you made him go see, one that he will like. I would sugest Gladiator.

Or you could just get him some condoms. ;)

I like it when girls get me sweaters it means they want to keep me warm. :)

My boyfriend can be hard to shop for sometimes. He's really into his home theatre gadgets and computer stuff. He already has the whole wide screen TV, DVD player, TiVO, VCR, and surround sound set-up (:rolleyes: ). I could buy him stuff for his computer. But, as a computer geek myself, I know that we geeks have very specific requirements about what we want in/for our computers. Even if he didn't have all of that stuff, I wouldn't be able to afford it!

I was thinking of maybe getting him a really nice watch. However, he seems particularly attached to the old one he already has.

Instead, I generally try to pay attention to what he says and does for clues. This year I got him a bunch of small-ish gifts instead of one big one. He's forever borrowing my flashlight. So, for a stocking stuffer I got him one of those really nice maglite brand flashlights.

He also has a WAY OLD road map. When we went on a trip for my birthday earlier this summer, we got a bit disoriented because our map didn't reflect some newer road changes. So, I got him a new hardback road map for his car.

Then, he's been talking about wanting to run a half-marathon next year. So, I got him a stopwatch with radio and earphones to use for his long training sessions.

Finally, he really likes James Bond movies. He made me watch a Bond marathon with him earlier in the summer. :) He mentioned that his favorite Bond movie is Goldfinger. So, I went and bought the DVD for him for Christmas. Then, a couple weeks ago, to celebrate getting his new DVD player, he went out and bought....the Goldfinger DVD. :rolleyes: I had to take mine back. Now I'm probably going to get a DVD of one of his favorite British shows called "The Office". I'd buy him the entire Bond DVD box set if I could only afford it.....

Imthechamp, my boyfriend loves LotR. Unfortunately, he already has the book and the DVD. :)

My boyfriend works for Circuit City so I can't get him any of the tech stuff because:
a) he'll know how much it costs
b) he'll complain that there's brand out there that's better than the one I got him
c) he probably already has it

So, I need some ideas that aren't tech related besides the usual cologne or nice sweater.

My guy had a hard time giving up his stupid Ironman watch...but he needed something more grown up. I found him a spiffy Timex with both digital time and the traditional hands. It looks like a regular watch but it has the digital inset on the face. You can get them from Fossil if you're willing to spend a bit more.

mr amycat and i deciided gifts were a bad idea, neither one of us wants stuff we're not gonna use...and we both go out and buy oursselves the sstuff we want, so apart from major jewelry for me, (lol) we were at a loss. and, since this iis our fiirst christmas together, we wanted it to be really speciial.

so we deciided to take a trip together instead of giving gifts. about a week after christmas we leave for mexiico.

whew. that made it easiier... and my birthday comes before his so... lol he's on deck next. ha ha ha

I think the nice sweater idea is good, because who doesn't love a nice sweater that you wouldn't normally buy for yourself? I was also kind of thinking like a polartech fleece (Northface, etc.) because he's a snowboarder and he could use something to go underneath his pretty light weight jacket.


For girls in need of ideas: in the past I got him a cigar box and an engraved flask which made me feel like I was buying a present for my grandpa, but he loved it.

He's graduating next year, so I was thinking of maybe something he could use in the "real world" but I'm not sure what he'd need?
