Okay Basement Jaxx were pretty big dance wise about 2 years ago up here with the song "Were's Your Head At?".... cool album cover too (it's the one with the albino ape).
Sloan is very common up here, and has been for about five years, played on radio, bars, tv. To classify them I'd compare them to Weezer (one of the more common comparisons), but they describe themselves as "geek rock" or "nerd rock".
However I will have to check-out some of the bands you mentioned.... they may be good but haven't broke out of their region yet.
