Happened to me once. I had an interview scheduled for a Tuesday, but they called me on Thursday and asked me to come in that afternoon. I had to go out and buy a suit (it was my first interview) and get all my stuff together, it was ridiculous. Turns out they already hired someone for the position and rather than just telling me that they bumped up my interview so the guy wouldn't have to stretch out the process into the next week
