Take my word for it-- it is worth the money to buy a guard for your badge! I lost my badge my first year as an ADPi during an outside candlelighting ceremony on the lawn of our chapter house--- at the end of a candlelighting, we all do a cheer which involves running and hugging and being loud-- our lawn is HUGE, and alas, my pin was gone! I reordered one immediately of course (the first one was a plain pin, and my newer one has pearls and emeralds). It is worth it to have the guard because your badge is doubly protected from coming undone!
