Greetings I am also A Los Angeles native and there are actually two other Alpha Kappa Alpha women who hold political offices in this city. One is Yvonne Brathwaite Burke she sits on the Board of Supervisors For the County of Los Angeles the 2nd largest city in America. She was also the first African American women to be elected to the U.S.Congress from California in 1972.The other woman of distiction is Congresswomen Juanita Millender-McDonald. She represents the 37th Distict which consist of the cities of Carson,Compton,Lynwood,long Beach and Los Angeles.
