A bunch of my family lives in the Cleveland area. I'm sure there's a lot to do that locals could tell you about...but as far as the touristy long weekend...what you want to do can definitely be done.
I'm not sure where you're from but from Chicago, Cedar Point is like a 4 hour drive. We left early Friday morning I'm talking like 5 am, checked into our hotel, and spent the day at CP. The park is gorgeous and you can get it done in a day, though if you want to go to the water park or whatever, you could make it a 2 day thing, too.
Saturday we drove up to Cleveland to stay w/relatives...spent the afternoon at the Rock and Roll hall of fame. RRHF definitely NOT a day thing...you could spend all the time you want and still be done in about 3 hours.
