Down here, icicle lights are all the rage, and have been for a few years. Personally, I can't stand them. I'm OCD when it comes to Christmas lights - they drive me crazy if they're not absolutely straight (as in, using a nail gun to get them up, not those wussy roof clips
)and the icicle lights never look straight. In fact, I think people use them because they can be sloppy with them and not have to worry about them being totally straight.
We've never put lights out on our house, because we never had outdoor electrical outlets. We do in our new house, so after finals are over, I'm going to get some of those "net" lights and do the bushes
