Colin Powell (R) vs Hillary Clinton (D) in 2004. That's my prediction..

Given that we haven't ever even had a Jewish VP - it wasn't all that long ago when it was a big deal that we elected a Catholic president - I think the day we get a president that isn't white, male and Christian is a lot longer off than we'd like to think.

I vote for my party ticket (for government things) and so generally it's whomever they throw out as a candidate. The only time I'd consider going to a different candidate would be based on their values, morals, and issues and whether or not I felt they were similar to my party's (or my personal beliefs). So race and sex don't necessarily play a part in my decision.

HOWEVER, I will say when it comes to the little things that people run for office here in my hometown, such as school board and director for the power plant (little things)...if I don't know who the candidates are, I generally will vote for a woman. I don't know what that is, but I suppose it goes back to what my mother once told me about how she votes.

If ANYONE of color ever made it into office, they would be assassinated. Therefore, I will say a woman.

This is a tough one... I think probably a woman will come first though.

Why wouldn't a woman be assassinated? Isn't that just as bad as being a "colored" person to these racist fools??

I agree with librasoul - as much as it sucks, if an African-American or other person of color even RAN they would probably get assassinated by some of the racist jagoffs out there. In that frame of mind, better a "little lady" that they can make themselves believe is being controlled by their husband than someone of another race.

I think this is why Colin Powell's wife asked him not to run.

To the "racist" folks, no. I am pretty sure that there will be people that are gonna be disgruntled, but I just don't think anyone would actually kill a white woman.

they might not kill her, but i can see them going to great lengths to discredit her, A la the movie The Contender, for things she did in college, or whenever, that the moral majority deems morally reprehensible, you know?

same would probably hold true for an African American...

I live in California, so its easy for me to think the whole country is as liberal as CA, and, in fact, most of the West Coast is...but... sigh... what in God's name does color or gender have to do with one's ability to run this country? NOTHING. But not everyone is as sensible as the fine people on GC...
