some people at my school need to read this - no sandals - they wouldn't know what to do with themselves . As far as they're concerned, the cold front means "wear socks with your sandals". It's horrible. Some people just do not seem to own shoes. This guy in particular went on a group trip with me, and we had to dress in business casual for one event, we had to beg him to not wear his birkenstocks. He finally found some "shoes".
It was ridiculous.

What I hate is when folks mix their seasonal clothing. I saw some chick last year with a leather jacket and sandals.
If it's cold enough to wear leather, it's too cold for your toes to be out! |

   | Girl, FeeFee got her sandals on today, and will continue to wear them as long as we continue to have 80 degree weather or hotter.
LOL @ the chick with the leather jacket and sandals. You know how folks up here like to get down with their wardrobe - crazeeeee!!!

I follow the 'no white' (pants/skirt--not blouses/shirt) rule too, but what about these rules:
No linen after Labor Day, before Easter?

What about suade (sp??)? I had a shoe salesman tell me you could now wear suade year 'round. I was like yeah, right.

 | I've seen folx wear suede year-round -- plenty of shoe and bag makers make it in pastel or bright colors. I've got a pair of Ralph Lauren light pink flat sandals -- the top-of-the-line, not the Lauren line -- and I wear them in spring and summer.

Wearing the heck out of my white

Until Sept. 7. I decided to lay off it today, but I am going to wear a white something on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Maybe tomorrow, too.

I'm from California and until I got to the South I had never really heard about the no white after Labor day thing. I've seen T.V. shows and movies (Serial Mom) but I never paid attention to it. Everyone around me wore white anytime they wanted to so I never saw a problem with it. It was until I go to school and I was going to wear a white skirt after Labor day, my roomate who if from Alabama told me not to cause people would look at my crazy. So ever since then I don't wear white after Labor day.
