White after Labor Day?

Yes? or No?

Does this apply ONLY to shoes? Or does this mean no white shirts, pants, or shorts are to be worn?

White after Labor Day?

Just say NO!:D

ST's thoughts

I say no to white shoes, but then again, I wear a size 10, so I don't indulge in white shoes, except when necessary. :p

I don't wear pure white dresses, pants, blazers, skirts, shorts, and suits past Labor Day. My 74-year-old mother was raised in New York and I learned those traditions from her.

A white shirt or T-shirt, however, is acceptable year-round. As a matter of fact, when I get, err..back to normal... ;) I'm going to wear one with this khaki skirt I got from the Avenue for $10.

Well, my advice is to NEVER wear white shoes ..... NOT EVER .... but that's just my opinion. As far as other articles of clothing, I think white is acceptable year round. Now don't get me wrong, a white linen dress is NOT appropriate for your New Year's Eve festivities. If the material is made for colder temps (wool, heavy cotton, angora, etc...), I say wear it. Also, there are so many different whites (i.e., winter white, off white, eggshell, mother of pearl (lol)) that it is very easy to wear white year round without wearing pure white.

I don't think so....suppose you have a simple white shirt on and a blazer with jeans in the fall. Now I surely don't wear white heels, or shoes or pants period; you can substitute that for bone or beige.

Yeah, you got me on that one. I guess white shoes are permissable a couple of times in your life ... the event of which you speak and your wedding day. Other than that, ixnay on the oesshnay. Oh, and gym shoes/tennis shoes/sneakers/whatever the heck you call them in your neck of the woods are okay too.

After Labor Day....

After Labor Day, put your white AWAY!! Please, DON'T believe the hype about it being a year-round color. It's NOT!

White shirts, tees, tops, etc. are cool.
White bottoms are a NO-NO!
White shoes.... AAAUUUGGGHHH!!! (There's just something about them..... I can't quite put my hands on it....)

Okay, I agree with white bottoms. Just plain white bottoms with a random shirt is not acceptable. But what about a suit? I have a bad @ss wool, winter white (almost cream) suit that I wear in the winter. So, really my answer should have been, only if it's a suit and not if it's pure white.

After Labor Day, I would put away the pure white clothing (except for my white shirts, of course!). During the fall and winter seasons, I think that off-white, cream, eggshell, ivory - whatever you want to call the color, is pretty acceptable, especially if the clothing is made of the heavier materials (wool for example).

Truth be told, if given a choice, I would prefer to wear off-white.

 :p

Cream and ivory are perfectly acceptable after Labor Day. In resort areas, such as my home of LoCal and Florida, some still wear pure white all year round.
