I just saw a Facebook post from Alpha Sigma Alpha announcing that the new Iota Mu Chapter at Bluefield State (WV) will be installed on April 12, 2025. Congrats!

Phi Kappa Tau is also presenting at Shenandoah University on 3/25/2025

I went looking for the outcome of the 2 fraternity presentations and I saw my organization. What a jaw dropping surprise.

A local is not looking to affiliate? This is a start up group?

Iona did try to nationalize its greek system a few years back but they fought back and it ended up not happening. This is a fresh group
https://theionian.org/10387/news/gre...-iona-college/
I am hoping it helps reform recruitment a little, since there's only 1 national sorority (Phi Sig), chapters can pick their pledge class numbers and many girls are left bidless, even after going through every round.

Question: is there currently a campus Chapter Total, or as you appear to state do both the local and Phi Sig chapters pick their own pledge class numbers?
Sounds like Iona's recruitment is ripe for NPC's 'A Spot For Every Pref PNM' and 'Setting a Chapter Total' processes, at least for their current and eventual NPC chapters.
Recruitment Reform may occur there more quickly if two NPC colonizing groups are chosen for fast colonies, taking in those 'many girls' you state are interested in belonging.
Hopefully, the unpledged women can and will appreciate the value and beauty of belonging to a national sorority over a local, quickly growing their NPC chapter number if not transforming the locals into NPC's.

As far as I can tell no. Every year Iona CGG (their FSL office) have the chapters pose for a photo with their spring PCs since that’s when freshmen rush. The chapters all vary in size, with Phi Sig being the biggest one, and the locals can control their size as they please.
I did hear if 2 NPC sororities join campus, then the entire sorority membership, local and national, will have to abide by NPC rules (quota, etc.) I am hoping this can give PNMs more options when it comes to rush. The other unique thing about Iona is rather than have a COB/informal for upperclassman like most campuses have (in this case during fall) a full blown rush is hosted twice. Once for just upperclassman and the other for freshmen.
Also (and this was wow in like 2012/13) AST was supposed to join campuses but it ended up not happening. I hope this time the colony persists and they get a great charter class!

Iona only has one NPC sorority, so there is no Panhellenic there. With the addition of a second NPC, they will be required to start a Panhellenic and choose a recruitment method. At some schools with locals, this may end up separating the locals and nationals for recruitment. Ever since the expulsion of Greeks at Bloomsburg, this is how recruitment is done - one for nationals and one for locals. It's not ideal, but they've gotten more women participating in recruitment and bigger new member classes, so there's that.

Montclair State has a similar setup with separate councils for the national and local orgs. I assume that's what Iona will do when they do select whoever is going to join. The last presentation is this Thursday so hopefully we'll know within a few weeks!

Delta Delta Delta will close its chapter at the University of Maine at the end of this semester. Closure is due to low membership numbers.

UConn will be starting expansion presentations soon. Delta Delta Delta will be presenting, but I'm not sure who else.
