I tell new members that they have to be realistic when joining our organization. They see pictures on Insta and assume that everyone is instant friends. You get out of the organization what you put into it. You can't expect to get your bid and feel an instant connection. My children did sports in HS. I liken it to the awkward first practices you have as a freshman no really knowing anyone. When you are a senior after riding the bus together and laughing, winning and losing games, peeing in the woods together and bonding you feel so much different at your Senior banquet. You may not feel a true connection to this group after a few weeks. But, if you give it your heart and soul, you will feel so different as a graduate remembering all the shared experiences. Good luck.
