You still hate Michigan! A couple years ago, I spoke at a conference in Detroit and the entire drive from the airport all I could think of was how you said the license plates should read "Pure $#!T" instead of "Pure Michigan!"

Phrozen, weren’t you there for a promotion or something? That’s what I remember. What if your company you work for moved your position to Michigan, making is kind of mandatory? Would you go back?

I’d file for unemployment. I’d rather door-dash in flip-flops during a snowstorm than to live there again.

Dude, for real. You remember ol’ girl I called Sade I was dating back when I lived in Jackson? A friend of hers lived in Detroit and invited us to her church. I drove. The city of Detroit didn’t even bother plowing after a snowstorm that ended weeks ago, at the time. The snow must’ve just sat there. Then the car tracks would freeze solid, hard as a rock, and then all of a sudden my car wasn’t taking directions from me anymore. I was just along for the ride, PB. It for real felt less like driving and more like I’d accidentally boarded an Amtrak, except there were no stops until spring. I have never seen no shit like that in any city I’ve been in, and I’ve been through a lot of cities. Whatever the frozen tracks told my car to do, it did exactly that. Only in Detroit.

Depends on what part of the city you were in. Definitely wasn’t the entire city of Detroit, though. I spent most of my time on E. Kirby in Detroit and the streets were clear when I was there. Any state that has snow, some parts within certain cities in that state are going to have that problem.

Well, the crime that does happen here is either "Man convicted of jaywalking, will pay fine." or something insane like the Kyoto Animation studio arson case.
Overall the justice system has a 98% conviction rate, because of how the laws are worded/enforced a lot of times they can hold you in jail and it's easier to confess, especially as a foreigner. I don't know too much about it as I am a good egg and do not want to face their wrath.

I personally haven't seen it, but I do see kids walking home from school/school clubs unsupervised. Because the population is so homogenous, and people are raised very similarly, it's okay to let your kid walk to school alone or run errands like going to the grocery store.
I'm not sure I would let my future kid do it, but maybe after a trial run or two I'd be okay with it.

That’s really interesting. I think this country needs a total revamp on our justice system. It’s really sad who gets away and who doesn’t.

WIFLSRN: I finally got away to the coffee shop so I could get some “me time” and some much needed, relaxing reading done. I haven’t even gotten a chance to start reading my book I got for Christmas.
