He makes comments like that a lot. I'm not sure if he didn't do things he was interested in on his own because his ex didn't want him going and doing things on his own or if he didn't want to go on his own. But I cannot imagine a life where, if my family didn't want to do something, I couldn't go do it on my own. But maybe that's why I've been single so long? ATLGuy said some similar things before. We were watching some TV series together- we'd start them at the same time and chat during commercials and then discuss after. We'd decide how many shows to watch. He wanted to watch series because his wife will only watch movies, not TV shows. I have like 4 TVs in my house and if my spouse was watching something I didn't watch, I would go to a different room and watch what I wanted.
Am I the oddball here? Maybe this is why I've been single since my divorce in 2000? Am I too unwilling to give up things I like? Will this be a problem for me later?

You should not have to give up anything you love for anyone, if you feel like you do then maybe this is not the right guy for you. I am too f ing old to care what a guy wants and I am sure as hell not giving up anything I like for them.

I’m just like… why are they all going to his “inauguration”? Michelle Obama isn’t going. Why are they? Ya know, knowing that they’re going to be at his “inauguration” is like showing up to celebrate the same guy who burned down your house. It’s baffling, infuriating, and makes me wonder if everyone’s lost their damn minds.

Pomp, tradition and circumstance cause powerful people to do things regular folks wouldn't or couldn't do.
A dozen years ago someone won a cartoon caption contest using the phrase, "Like the pomp, not crazy about the circumstances." Is that how you feel about this inauguration, cheerfulgreek?

It sure is! It'll be a nice 13*C tomorrow. The warmer winters is one of my favorite things about living here, even though I hate the winter.

Yesterday sucked. As if Trump being back wasn't bad enough, all of the MLK events on campus were postponed due to the frigid cold, and then...Ohio State wins the natty. That was just crappy icing on top of a really crappy cake.

And this gal loves her TikTok so the whole weekend was just crappy. Lions lost, TikTok shut down for a while (and will probably be gone in a couple months or will be owned by Musk or Zuck) and the politics. How can you write an executive order voiding all the previous executive orders from the last president? Insane. Insulin prices going back up, so much crap. Two genders, banning DEI in the govt. WTAF??????

Jan 6 rioters just released from prison through his pardon.
You know what? I’m standing my ground. They can do whatever they want, as long as they don’t speak to me, I’m fine. Don’t look at me to speak or return a conversation, because they will simply be ignored. Trump supporters are non-existent to me. All of them. They are 100% garbage.

That's what I've practiced with at the shooting range.
TKEGuy does have a pistol and a couple rifles (because he hunts).

I don't discount the method of thinking using a shotgun for home defense. If you use a shotgun regularly, are confident with the manual of arms, and can hit the intended target than that's great.
I personally ascribe to the school of thought of using a lower powered cartridge with a more precise aim to defend what I care about. I'll still make someone into their aerated cheese of choice, but with more precise holes where they should be.

It’s not about “overkill” or whatnot, but I am very protective of my family. I wouldn’t want the intruder coming back. If they come back, sometimes, they could come back with their own self-defense, and that weapon could be yours, while he’s waiting for you or one of your family members to come home. I can’t have that. Plus, Minnesota has these weird intruder laws. We live next door to a judge and he’s told me all about them. That’s why I’m not giving the intruder a chance to run.
Aerated cheese, Xant? Nah, I’m going for full on melted fondue with no recovery time. That’s how I express my love for my family/home defense. 😂

Handguns are just more efficient overall. They’re compact, easy to maneuver, and you can fire off multiple shots quickly without fumbling around. Shotguns are great in their own right, but they’re bulkier, harder to handle in tight spaces, and let’s be honest, you’re not exactly carrying one around discreetly. It’s about being precise and practical, and that’s where handguns shine.

What if the intruder is high and loaded on drugs? It is possible that when someone is under the influence of certain drugs, like cocaine, PCP, or methamphetamine, they may feel little to no pain and can experience a temporary adrenaline-fueled surge. This can allow them to continue moving or fighting despite severe injuries. What you see in movies like Scarface is often exaggerated, but the phenomenon of drug-induced temporary resilience is rooted in reality. You’ll keep shooting with that handgun, but it might take a few pulls of the trigger to take him out.
But the shotgun always wins. High on drugs or not, one shot with a slug, and it’s over.
