There are quite a few of those events around Dallas/Fort Worth - they sound exclusive but they are really open to anyone willing to pony up cash for charity.
They tend to be popular with the young professional and grad school crowd, which in turn makes them "hunting grounds" for the young single professionals, which in turn draws the cougars and friends, and that's how you get the Real Housewives crowd. Meanwhile, polite Dallas/Fort Worth society goes on about their business without any regard for these mega-events.
