Real Housewives of Dallas
Did anyone watch this? Bravo billed it as a peak into Dallas High Society.
Though I doubt these women actually are, since those people wouldn't be caught dead on a reality show. |
Ok I will be the first to admit, I got sucked into this other real housewives city. I profess to know nothing about Dallas, other that the Ewing family drama that occurred on the name sake show.
My verdict. This one was interesting. Not my favorite, but it was much better than the yawn fest that was the Potomac housewives. |
Same. I didn't watch either Dallas or Potomac -- didn't want to. I felt it was Real Housewives Jumped the Shark.
Still watch BH, NYC, OC and sometimes NJ. Can't stand Atlanta any longer. I admit to loving Ladies of London and did get sucked into Melbourne mainly because I can binge watch an entire season in a day. |
I was shocked they got a reunion, didn't really think this would get renewed.
|
I watched it. Boo. A woman I play tennis with every week lived next door to one of them. There are a couple of crazies and a couple that I am too old to be in the same circles as... The thing that really strikes me? I have never heard anyone in my life say, '"charity world."

I didn't even know there was a RHOD. I doubt that any of real the "Dallas Elite" (whatever that means) will be involved. Probably new money in Westlake or Plano.
Was this a one-season thing or is it ongoing? |
None of the true Dallas old society would have been caught dead in a show like that.
Now, they might have admitted someone like these overdone girls into the outer rings, shall we say ,of their group if they had huge money and gave to charities with really, really large checks and wiggled into Cattle Baron's but some of those women back in the 80's and 90's infamously and involuntarily ended up on the cover of Texas Monthly as an object of derision, having crashed and burned with their husbands. I was certainly never in that group but had less than zero desire to gravitate towards that lifestyle to begin with. Working rush in the back room or in the kitchen as an alum with Highland Park women reinforced that notion. Sorry if I've offended any Park Cities gals. |

I was curious, so I googled Margarita Ball under images...yikes! The Margarita Ball guidelines say, "this is one of those occasions where you can't dress up too much." Well, actually, it appears that you can.
Unless you're one of the men...there were many casual interpretations of "black tie only" going on. And what's with the, "if you leave, you have to get a wristband to return to the ball?" Classy. |
There are quite a few of those events around Dallas/Fort Worth - they sound exclusive but they are really open to anyone willing to pony up cash for charity.
They tend to be popular with the young professional and grad school crowd, which in turn makes them "hunting grounds" for the young single professionals, which in turn draws the cougars and friends, and that's how you get the Real Housewives crowd. Meanwhile, polite Dallas/Fort Worth society goes on about their business without any regard for these mega-events. |
I just want to know what christian school Brandi kids went to, they got asked not to return because if her behavior on the show and the whole Jesus Juice thing.
|
Brandi lives in Mckinney so my first thought was McKinney Christian Academy. Given this quote from her blog on Bravo.com, I would almost bet on it.
"I want to start by addressing the school that my girls attended. First, to make sure the clarification is known that the school my girls attended was not a Catholic school. Second at this Christian Academy, my girls had the most amazing nurturing teachers and I thank them for loving my girls. We wanted to respect the school and their choice to no longer partner with us to educate our children. I blamed myself for the decision that was made but after much prayer, I realized why am I blaming myself for being myself. I know I have a sense of humor that is not for everyone and I also know that I have made poor choices at times but with that, a choice was made based on me not my children." |
