I havent read alot of fiction lately. I read Thou Shall Prosper by Rabbi Daniel Lapin (and subsequently bought it on audible so I could relisten to it because there was so much good information to re-read/listen to).

I'm currently reading Adam Hamilton's "Making Sense of the Bible." I've served as lay delegate for my church to annual conference for the last 2 years and have been (one of) the youngest non-clergy people in attendance and have left feeling devastated and defeated the last 2 years. I have one more year to serve as delegate and through the course of serving, this book came up, so I figured I needed to check it out. I've done some of his bible studies and I'm halfway through the book. LOVE IT so far. http://www.amazon.com/Making-Sense-B...dp/006223496X/ in case you're interested.

I started reading Necessary Endings by Henry Cloud but haven't finished it.

I finished "Gone Girl" and watched the movie the exact same day that I read the last page. The film is better, at least for me it was.

Before that, I read Jhumpa Lahiri's "The Lowland". She is one of my absolute favorite authors; she uses such vivid detail that I always feel like I'm actually in India when I read her books. She also wrote "The Namesake".

I love dark, dramatic, near-depressing fiction ("The Road", "A Thousand Splendid Suns", "The Poisonwood Bible"), so I'm open to recommendations.

Jhumpa Lahir went to my high school. There was basically a shrine to her in the Library when The Namesake" came out.
