I used to get into serious arguments with my roomates this past year, because they always wanted to keep the ACeither off, or at a steady 78-80. Word to your mom: It's 78 outside in January...and 98 in April!
Ugggh, I hated them. The air vent in my room was smaller, so less air came through and I was always hot. They told me to open a window (why, it's 20 degrees hotter out there!), and I told them to put a freakin sweater on. I eventually resorted to hanging around in just a sports bra and shorts, or if I came back from the pool, I'd sit around in my bathing suit. I had fans, but living on the 4th floor in FL, they didn't help much. I guess I was more fortunate than those at Flagler...the dorms there don't have AC! I moved in with one of my sisters now, and she keeps our air on 70 or colder all the time. I love it!
