I get lots of student emails that fall into neither of these categories, and I used to stall a lot on answering them. Now I just reply with "come to office hours."
Speaking of which, please also don't use FB to contact people. I just realized I had a junk folder in my FB messages. I clicked on it and found 2-3 young ladies from about two years ago asking me for recommendations for recruitment. I would have gladly written them but, FB was not the best place to ask. I felt horrible and messaged them to apologize for not responding. The good news is that one went Alpha Omicron Pi, another went Kappa Alpha Theta, and the third one went Phi Mu. That's just another reason why talking to people in person or on the phone definitely beats out email or FB messages.

Yep. I felt horrible. I wonder if she thought I was either really aloof or just mean. Guess we better start watching our "other" folder on FB from now on.

They can probably see when you actually read it, though, so hopefully they realize you just never saw it.

I went to Miami. I graduated a few years ago but I can help, OP. Go to the Greek Life office and see if they can help you. They're very helpful.

At least 1, maybe 1 or 2 more, recruit informally in the Fall. It might be too late for them but you never know. Miami is more lax than most but it'll still be hard. If you do go through recruitment you might luck out with a chapter. Keep an open mind, you will probably be left with limited options. Good luck in whatever you decide!

Yeah. I sure hope you are right about that. I sent messages to let them know that I was not intentionally ignoring them. They seemed really sweet about it. I just felt bad. So, the moral of the story is to check that "other" box for FB.

Um, yea… I just checked mine… I have messages in there from 2007 that I never received! I had no idea that box existed! I have messages from some sisters that I never responded to. Ugh.
