There are still a few small places down there to check out. Lower East Side, Village etal Best idea: look for small, locally owned/operated off the tourist type beaten path. York and 1St can be interesting as well. Check prices.

And from how you described your Hotel location, you are either Upper East Side or Yorkville. That can be high rent area=some expensive restaurants.

That is, from my copy of Mr. Frank's book, is Midtown East/Sutton/Tudor

When are you going? CandyCab is getting a new vehicle at the end of the month so I'd expect he'll be back in business by sometime in November. http://candycabnyc.com/

Also, if you're into food. There's a guy on instagram who posts pictures of food and his son, http://instagram.com/foodbabyny. Everything looks delicious!!! Like, everything! He does lots of desserts, if sweet is your thing. I really don't understand how the dad stays so slim.

Sometimes one can get rather lucky if one is in the right place and time. If shows are not filled, staff go out and pass out tickets in mid-town area. I know 1 or 2 people who go tickets to Letterman that way.

The Tonight Show seems to have posted Oct and it seems to be sold out already. http://www.showclix.com/event/theton...ingjimmyfallon

However you may found out some better info with these: http://gonyc.about.com/od/tvtapings/

I'm trying for Tonight Show and John Stewart. I wish Inside the actors studio wash still in production. I did see that there's a chance to go to the rehearsal version for the Tonight show, so that's a good backup.

Thank you so much for posting these links!
