Thanks, and Texas gets more than next door Georgia with the populous metro Atlanta area, Wow!! Many people talk about how Ole Miss has a lot of Texas students and it most certainly does, but generally Ole Miss students have been divided relatively equally between the Lone Star and the Empire State of the South with Texas getting slightly more. But both Texas and Georgia are about the same distance from Oxford, Mississippi and Texas of course has considerably more people. But Georgia is much closer to Tuscaloosa, Alabama than Texas, but again, the Lone Star State has more at the Capstone this year at least with sorority recruitment; I say they really represent well!!

Texas is not much of a surprise given the UT and A&M have so many applicants. The incoming freshman class this year --- 75% are in the top 7% of their high school senior class. Lots of kids look for schools out of state.

I didn't mean it was a surprise that Texas has so many girls, I have roots in the state, I would absolutely think they probably would have a lot! I meant that it was something to me personally that they would now have more than Georgia with the state being right next door to Alabama. I've kept track of the number of out-of-state students by state with sorority recruitment and overall at Alabama for a number of years now and other states have had up and down years while Texas has consistently grown - from fourth place among states other than Alabama to now number one. Again, I think they're really representing well!!

That is exciting for Texas! I wrote several recommendations for girls going to Alabama and Auburn in the past couple of years. My own high school junior is leaning towards both Alabama and Auburn right now.

This year, our alumnae Panhellenic received only three rec requests for Bama bound girls. In previous years, we normally have a dozen. Same for Ole Miss -we had just three this year - down from past years. In contrast, we received nearly 3 dozen rec requests from girls headed to UGA and 8-10 for girls headed to Georgia Southern or Georgia College (Milledgeville). More girls this year seemed to be staying in state to use the Hope scholarship.
