i have a interesting perspective on this question:
when i rushed for the first time (second semester freshman year), i rushed a sorority and pledged it for seven weeks. i was three days shy of initiation and dropped. something inside me told me that it wasn't a good thing to do and that i wasn't going to be happy with it if i became a sister. the mext semester, i was approached by my future big sister about sigma alpha iota. they held a seperate rush, so i went, pledged the ten weeks, had the greatest pledge experience ever and was chapter president last year. i knew in my hear that SAI was for me. i knew as soon as i met the sisters, as soon as i saw the girls i could be pledging with and as soon as my big sister came up to me and smiled at me. something just did it for me.
so in answer to your question: you just know. trust me, and everyone else here reading, smiling and thinking back on thier rush experience. don't worry so much. be yourself, get in there, take in everything you can and decide for yourself. have fun!
