 | I'm sure this has been covered but I thought I'd bump the question: The girls visit all houses for philanthropy but can be invited to how many for skit?

Also, my daughter understands that missing class for a party results in immediate release from the process, but what about girls who have a 4 o'clock class or even a 3 o'clock class? I am envisioning girls coming to class in lilly dresses, pearls and heels then racing off with their backpack to a party.

 | It happens at many places. My prefs started after a chem lecture. The lecture was in a room of 200 people and there were a bunch of us all in cocktail dresses with our hair and make up done. It was pretty funny for us because our classmates kept staring out of the corners of their eyes.

 | Last year a full dance card was 6 for skit. I haven't heard of any changes, but then that's not my area.

Hello all! So, I have a question about the process. I know everyone attends each house for philanthropy over the two days, but once invited begin, is it possible for a girl to only have parties on one day of skit instead of both? I'm guessing it is partially based off how many invites back from philanthropy she receives?

 | Yes, it is entirely possible, depending on the chapters that a PNM receives invitations from.

Great SCOTT! 3-0 for the first time since 1989. Glad we bought season tickets in February right after the success of signing day. DD is at Ole Miss at a good time! DH has always been an Archie fan....we are loving the team's success this year! Hotty Toddy!

We would have to be ready for pref night in full black tie at 6, so we'd be in class all done up (men and women). With black tie gigs happening all year, you might see us not only in class but at meals, on the bus, rehearsals for other shows, etc. in totally inappropriate evening wear. It was fun, though! Post-concert IHOP in formal dress was always the best part of the night.

Chatted (on the phone, not just via text!!) with my DD yesterday afternoon about several things.....She's SOOO happy with her decision to go to Ole Miss! YAY!
I mentioned the Recruitment Week Survival Bags idea and asked her if other girls had mentioned it. She said during water parties their Gamma Chis said for everyone to put their phones/wallets/ids in zip lock bags and they (Gamma Chis) would hold them while the PNMs were in the various houses. She had a floor meeting last night with their Gamma Chis and asked about recruitment week bags. She texted me this morning and said they would need to use zip lock bags again.

She didn't specify a size though and I sent her gallon size zip locks and was able to fit many items in it!!

Just wanted to share since others had talked about using hipsters or tote bags.

 | Wonder why the ziploc over a tote bag? PNMs used to carry their heels between houses in the totes and exchange the heels for flip flops for walking.

She said the Gamma chis put all the zip lock bags in backpacks....so I'm thinking it's just a size/logistics issue.
I'm telling my DD to carry her heels in her hands when she walks in between houses and just put the flip flops in the gallon size zip lock bags when she goes into each house.

I did see your link in the recruitment bag thread though and bought gel inserts, blister rub, along with the oil blotting sheets, safety pins, bobby pins, mini lint roller, mini hair spray, etc.

I'm hoping the gallon size zip lock bags are allowed!!

so are totes not permitted then? and I am seeing all these things they might need, which would not fit in one large Ziploc? how is this all going to work?

It was the perfect size- you don't need very much. The Gamma Chis carried a vast array of random things we might have needed (i.e. breath mints, feminine products, etc.) All the things listed in the "recruitment must haves" threads are a little excessive, IMO.

Good luck to everyone going through recruitment at Ole Miss!

I'm not sure if it's just her Gammi Chi, but I would imagine it would have to be done across the board.

I specifically asked her about flip flops for walking between houses. She said they could bring extra shoes along with the zip lock bag.

I just sent her one gallon zip lock with the various items in it. But she can take just a few of the bobby pins, safety pins, blotting sheets, etc., out of their packaging and put in a sandwich size zip lock with her phone, wallet, etc.

So I guess moms can still send some of these items to their DDs, but only need to send a handful of them.

The other things I sent like the blister rub, gel inserts, extra vitamins (!!), she'll still use but wouldn't have put in a zip lock or tote bag anyway! I did send a mini bottle of hairspray though, that might still fit if she wants to take it.

13 days and counting until Convocation!
