"Competitive" does not necessarily refer to whether or not a young woman can get A bid to A sorority in an extremely competitive recruitment.
It does mean that it may be really tough to get a bid to Pi Zeta Popular sorority because many, many girls want to pledge there... usually for the sparkly purple panty hose

That is why we stress over & over and over that girls need to
keep their options and their minds open to ALL of the possibilities.
