I love the Sophie Kinsella "Shopaholic" series or Emily Giffin's books. "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue" are the first two.

I like the Joanne Fluke book series- first one is The Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. They are really light murder mysteries. The books are as much about the characters lives as the mysteries. And there are recipes at the end of each chapter
