Rushing a sorority as a sophomore at the University of Michigan (no one is answering)

They are making fun of your question because you have insulted all of their organizations with your talk about tiers. This is a major faux paux.

During sorority recruitment, you attend parties at all of the sororities, and then the sororities must cut a certain percent of women after each party. You rank the sororitities in your order of interest, but you don't have the power to cut them from your list and you must attend the maximum number of parties you are invited to. So no one is taking you seriously because you've basically come across as an arrogant and immature girl who thinks that she can insult other organizations as being subpar.

Every sorority at every campus is different depending on their needs each year. Some may take sophomores and others won't. Even though a cousin is not a legacy, recommendations can help in this process. So get your recs, rush as a sophomore, and keep your opinions about top tiers to yourself because those "tiers" change every year.

As far as living in when you're a year ahead in school, it is your call. You'll either bond with your pledge class or you won't, and it is likely there are older underclassmen and younger upperclassmen based on AP credits, taking a year off, etc.

That's a serious answer to your question. Take some time to read the posts on here about recruitment and ask around at your university regarding the Greek Life culture and your chances.

I just want to note that, while my sorority does not have a chapter at The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, I was still incredibly offended by your lack of class when feeling the need to essentially put down another sorority while saying where you wanted to pledge. I also want to point out that adpiucf showed a lot of class and restraint because if you (OP) had the audacity to act as though you were "too good" for my organization and came on various internet websites to ask this question, I would have been *ahem* less nice to you. In fact, I probably would have had a few choice words for you. To be quite frank, I hope you don't get a bid anywhere. Those chapters that are "beneath" you are actually too good for you.
