Wear shoes that don't hurt your feet!!!

I know that most women consider it a badge of honor on how bad their shoes hurt their feet, but I think that everyone would enjoy rush more if they wore "cute" but well fitting shoes...I had 4 friends who had multiple lacerations on their feet from their shoes during rush.

I think this goes in with the making sure your just as into the last party you attend as the first one...sure your going to be tired, but I could only imagine it being worse if your feet are getting cut up by the shoes/sandals youre wearing.

Remember you'll probably be doing a lot of walking.

Other ideas...

It's only natural to have houses that you like for certain reasons...high scholastics or great philanthropy for example. If the house you are at is known to be strong for one area, and you like that aspect of the house, make sure you talk about that. Don't talk about social calendar if the chapters academics is what you like about the house. That specific area that a chapter is strong is something that the members hold in high regard. Letting the rushers know you like/recognize the chapter for that accomplishment is a sure way to have them remember you.

Spend equal time getting to know the rusher...just like anywhere else, you'll be remembered as a great conversationalist if you give the other person a chance to talk as well. Ask what their favorite memory of the chapter is, or the most fun thing they've done within the chapter. Allow the rusher the chance to get misty eyed...it may also be telling if the rusher brushes off the question or can't think of anything.

Don't pick a house b/c that is how you want to be, pick a house that is how you ARE.

Also don't pick a house solely b/c it will allow you opportunities...we have one guy going through summer rush with us right now(and hopefully he's signed by now), and I absolutely cringed b/c he said "I want to make sure I get involved on campus and get good grades and in your house that's almost a given those will happen." It's true, but don't make that the reason to join.
