Quota is not set until after Preference Round.

Quota is set based on the number of PNMs attending the preference round of recruitment divided by the number of sororities. So no one will know what quota is until Preference round. It was 131 last year. I expect similar numbers this year.

It's actually decided even later, depending on how many sign preference cards (which may be a smaller number than those attending preference).

So much for brevity! (Lately I'm all about reducing everything to its simplest terms). KSUViolet, I feel your pain. Don't share it, but feel it!

And it may be even smaller as the computer will place as many women as possible, including quota additions, trying to not favor the larger groups over the smaller ones. From the NPC MOI, aka Green Book:

3. Determine quota range
The number selected is the one that maximizes the number of potential new members to be placed without seriously harming one or more chapters.

Can it be larger than # of women attending pref/# of chapters? I think that there is nothing in the rules stopping that, but I can't come up with any possible mathematical situation where it would place more women, as long as unlimited QA's are allowed.

I do know the chapters at Arkansas were told to expect a quota around 150. (1485 PNMs x estimated 80% retention)
