Just because a student is involved in the process of bringing a new group to campus does not mean that said student will actually be chosen to join. Each organization is allowed to choose, their own members. Once the group is picked, the members of the interest group would have to go through the process of applying for membership. It is extremely unusual for NPC groups to accept all interest group members site unseen. The members chosen for a new colony are critical to the success of that chapter, so they are usually very particular about who they issue bids to initially. It's not a done deal because you came up with the idea and stuck around after graduation until colonization. It just does t work that way.

I knew this college sounded familiar. These chapters are SMALL. I'm on AOIIs scholarship committee. We just gave our highest scholarship to the chapter president of AOII at Coe. In three years she held every major office and was Panhell President and did so much in her community. Impressive resume that you aren't going to be able to build with big chapters. Yeah, this is not a competitive recruitment campus.

The Coe Greeklife page has stats for spring '12 and it shows 1 group at 66, one at 56 and one at 31

Yup. I didn't want to get that specific so I just mentioned the Greekchat posts. Oh well.

Then those numbers on IP's page are hella wrong. At any rate - 31 on a campus where total is 55 is not irredeemably can't recover struggling. Honestly, they could be on top in a year or two. I've seen it happen. 31 on a campus where total is 255 is another matter.

I agree, and if everyone was pretty even two years ago, then things are on a downswing and can swing back up. I doubt so much that IPs page is wrong as much as it is incomplete.

She is giving the TOTAL numbers for the chapters. I only list what they took in recruitment.

True! The Coe stats for spring '12 also show the handful of new members they took in spring (COB I guess)

I know - but according to the "new member" numbers on Coe's page those were off also. Don't worry, I'm not shooting the messenger.

But the fact remains (and I think 33girl is usually the one to point this out) that if you bring a new group to campus, you are still selecting from the same student population. Nothing will be radically different just because XYZ showed up.
