It is true that it's the sorority's responsibility to get the rec. The reality is that with 1200-2000 PNMs registering between June 1 and August 1, it is physically impossible for the chapters at these "recs are required" schools to get them. The PNMs know in the spring that they are going to Big SEC U and that they are probably going to go thru recruitment. So it behooves them to take the task on themselves - otherwise, they fall thru the proverbial crack. It's just reality. I don't think any of us who live this think it's necessarily right it just is what it is. The chapters do try to get them but if you truly want to be considered by all the chapters, your best bet is to do it yourself. Welcome to the real world.
The blurb futurepnmmom posted would be a little better if it said "they will use the information you have provided to try to find a recommendation for you." In other words, if they don't succeed when they try, you are SOL.
