Yes, I did see that Obama was speaking at Barnard. It caused some friction with Columbia as some of their graduation activities (for the General Studies college) had to be re-arranged due to security issues.

From what I've read, Columbia College (President Obama's
alma mater) saw it as a snub because they've been asking him since he was a Senator.
