My DD is a HS Jr and is strongly interested in greek life. Every school she considers she looks at how strong greek life is, and if there is sorority housing or not. It is driving me crazy when I see lions, or owls, or keys, or anchors, or kites that I won't know where her home will be for almost 2 years (depending on if the school she chooses is fall or winter recruitment). I think she has gotten the message from me that her choice is her own. My niece on the other hand is really pushing Chi-O . LOL. and this from the girl that I had to push to go first rounds after I signed her up for recruitment. Love it!
(although I do confess to dressing my dd in violets as a small child)

What a great article!

Sometimes, people lose sight of the fact that just because the chapter of ABC where they pledged in 1982 was a great fit for them, doesn't mean the chapter of ABC at their child's school in 2012 is the best fit for him/her - s/he may find a home with XYZ, or s/he may not want to go greek at all.

What's important is that the legacy is happy.

Let's all be sure to remember this thread when Recruitment starts, and legacies are unfortunately let go.

Love this.

I have told AlwaysSAI, who is also an AGD, that of course I would love for my "future" daughter to go ADPi, but I would like her to go greek in general. If ADPi isn't the chapter for her, than so be it. I will be a proud momma of whatever chapter she calls home. I will be the ADPi momma who will be supporting whichever chapter she chooses.
