Non boxy raincoat: Burberry style trench coat. Please note: Many companies make this style raincoat. I am not suggesting that, unless budget permits, that Burberry is the only way to go.

Plum is a powerful (and lovely color) . You don't want competition with the rest of the outfit. Nude heels accomplish two things: Height and lengthening of the leg...always a good thing. I personally go with the single major color...known today as a "pop" of color.

Thanks, I'll definitely see what I can do. I just graduated in May, so I've become a pro outlet/factory store shopper, haha. I definitely need to commit some more time to looking, beyond jumping into stores on lunch and on the way home.

Agree with Ellebud on both. Gusteau, the classic trench coat will probably never go out of style so you should be able to wear it for years. I was in Costco this past weekend, and they even had some there (not Burberry though, sigh). A lot of department stores should be bringing them in right about now for the upcoming spring/summer season, as they are moving out the winter coats.

Agree with this. Hit up department stores and check clearance racks. Also I found this, don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for, but the reviews do say it's a slim fit.

Zara has great trenchcoats, both long and shorter styles.
I love this one.
