I know people say that the switch to Lifetime changed Runway, but the only thing that changed about the show (production wise) was the channel that it aired on. I definitely agree about the feeling of the show now turning into Project Ready To Wear. The other designers presented collections that were runway ready, but could have translated to ready to wear. So disappointed :/

Since the switch to Lifetime, I've noticed that there seem to be more "gimmicky" challenges that really prohibit the designers from doing high quality work. But I also think they're casting people that are novices compared to the earlier seasons, in part maybe because they're going for more drama queen personalities that they think the episodes can revolve around as opposed to the talent. The product integrations have also increased, in number and in weight, which has meant more of the challenges have been, as I said, gimmicky.

My mom thinks that the switch to Lifetime meant a switch in the demographic for the show and that the producers may now want to pick winners that appeal more to that demographic (who may be more drawn to ready to wear) than Bravo's demorgraphic (who may be more drawn to more couture), so that they will continue to tune in.

This could definitely be the case!

It's not just the challenges but also the off-shoot shows. Did anyone ever watch "Models of the Runway". I think it was 2 years ago and it resembled Jersey Shore without the oompa loompa tans.

Although, I'm still waiting for them to do a Duct Tape Challenge.

Personally, I'm waiting for the Soda Can and Chain Challenge.
