Movies that disappointed you
In this thread we chit chat about movies that we thought looked good based on the trailer/a book/what others have said about it etc. but when you went to see it, you were disappointed and thought it was awful. It doesn't have to be a current movie. It can be on DVD etc.
I'm sure I can think of a few, but so far, right now, I'm going to say "Are you afraid of the dark". I didn't like that one at all.

In my opinion...
"Lawrence of Arabia" 1962
"The Little Prince" 1974
"Annie Hall" 1977
"My Dinner With Andre" 1981
"Blue Velvet" 1986

But even if the story and everything else in the movie sucks you can just turn off your brain and watch Peter O'Toole!! He's freaking gorgeous in that movie (as well as in Beckett).
But along those lines...I was COMPLETELY disappointed by The Graduate.
The other one was Beverly Hills Cop. I saw it after all the hype and just didn't think it was as hilarious as everyone said.

One of my favorite movies ever. We "studied" it my senior year of high school in my lit class. It took us days to get through. We studied every shot, camera angle, expression, framing, lighting, line, everything. It blew me away.

A couple of the Harry Potter movies were really disappointing. I remember watching one of them and (maybe movie 4 or 5) thinking that it wouldn't have made much sense without reading the book first.
I also HATED the Keira Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice. Then again, after the 1995 BBC version, nothing could even come close...

It was painful to watch it was so bad. I agree. I hated that movie.
Love the 1995 BBC version. If you haven't seen the remastered version, it is definitely worth the $$$.

JUNO. Way too over-hyped for me. And I hated the gimmicky "witty" dialogue. And I didn't like any of the characters. Maybe if everyone hadn't told me it's the BEST MOVIE EVARRRRRRR... but probably even so.

Yes - this one too.
Also pretty much anything Coen Brothers or Wes Anderson. They try WAY too hard to be "quirky."

I have never seen this movie and avoid it like the plague. I tried to watch it once and it was just too dumb and unfunny. The premise is amazingly unfunny and would not be so celebrated if the main characters were "different."

Any movie that was based off a book I read previously. Every single one of them.

Too true.
And most, if not all, movies starring Jennifer Aniston. Love her, hate her movies.
