Movies that disappointed you
In this thread we chit chat about movies that we thought looked good based on the trailer/a book/what others have said about it etc. but when you went to see it, you were disappointed and thought it was awful. It doesn't have to be a current movie. It can be on DVD etc.
I'm sure I can think of a few, but so far, right now, I'm going to say "Are you afraid of the dark". I didn't like that one at all. |
In my opinion...
"Lawrence of Arabia" 1962
"The Little Prince" 1974 "Annie Hall" 1977 "My Dinner With Andre" 1981 "Blue Velvet" 1986 |
A couple of the Harry Potter movies were really disappointing. I remember watching one of them and (maybe movie 4 or 5) thinking that it wouldn't have made much sense without reading the book first.
I also HATED the Keira Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice. Then again, after the 1995 BBC version, nothing could even come close... |

Momma Mia -- the second worst movie I have ever seen.

But along those lines...I was COMPLETELY disappointed by The Graduate. The other one was Beverly Hills Cop. I saw it after all the hype and just didn't think it was as hilarious as everyone said. |
JUNO. Way too over-hyped for me. And I hated the gimmicky "witty" dialogue. And I didn't like any of the characters. Maybe if everyone hadn't told me it's the BEST MOVIE EVARRRRRRR... but probably even so.

Also pretty much anything Coen Brothers or Wes Anderson. They try WAY too hard to be "quirky." |
Any movie that was based off a book I read previously. Every single one of them.
|
Sex & The City 2
It was so bad, I asked the theatre for a refund. |

And most, if not all, movies starring Jennifer Aniston. Love her, hate her movies. |
No Country For Old Men. Couldn't stand it. And, every movie that ends with an ambiguous ending. I figure, why did I pay money to see a story you didn't bother finishing??
|
The Strangers -- awful
