This makes sense, and is familiar with what I have previously read on GC.
However, am I dreaming that there are some schools who do the regular matching, as above, but then when they get to the QAs they match those to the group on their MRABA that has the lowest chapter total? Obviously, the thought process would be to try to equalize chapter sizes, so that the big don't just continue to get bigger. The PNM may then get her 1st, 2nd, or yes, even 3rd choice.
It just seems that the two systems have been debated on GC in the past, but maybe my memory is fuzzy.

Yes, they are supposed to QA to the chapter with the smallest total chapter size.

Under the old system there was a 5% of quota per chapter limit on QAs. (If quota was 20 then a chapter could only take 1 QA) With RFM, all PNMs can be placed without regard to a
percentage of quota.

Quota
Note.....every chapter made quota or above at Auburn!!!!
Congratulations!
Adding up the list of numbers comes to 1123. Is this an Auburn record for placement?

So if you have a last name starting with a "T," that might affect getting a bid?

This is Kappa Alpha Theta's 2nd year of regular rush - they recolonized after being away from Auburn for a few years. They were below the overall limit so they can take more than quota.
|
They actually had the largest chapter last year, so I'm pretty sure they weren't below total. I think this is the 3rd year of rush since recolonizing, but I could be wrong. I know that they had large numbers at each of their pref parties, so apparently they were getting higher rates of return than were anticipated by RFM. But you guys know a lot more about this stuff than I do.
Apparently they are very pleased not only with the quantity but also with the quality of the girls they ended up with.

No, not at all. If you are on the first list, you are on the first list.

You must be really proud of your daughter! Congratulations!
Also, thanks for the updates along the way. For someone who pledged over the summer and is not going through the madness that is fall rush, albeit sorority recruitment is a totally different animal from fraternity recruitment, it was very interesting. Very stressful I imagine as well. I'd like to thank you, as well as the other posters in this thread for their insight/experiences on AU sorority recruitment.
